Principal’s Desk,
In today’s dynamic and competitive world, the journey of self-improvement is not only desirable but essential for students aiming to excel academically, professionally and personally. The concept of upgrading oneself goes beyond just acquiring new knowledge, it involves enhancing skills, cultivating positive habits, and nurturing personal growth. Whether you are at the Junior School or Senior School programme, navigating your academic journey, here are some effective strategies to help you elevate your potential and embark on a journey of continuous self-upgrade.
1. Set Clear Goals
Define clear and achievable goals for yourself – smaller manageable tasks, create a timeline to track your progress.
2. Develop Critical Thinking Skills
Practice critical thinking by questioning assumptions, seeking evidence based solutions to complex problems. Engage in debates, discussions and academic research to sharpen your analytical abilities.
3. Have Effective Communication
Effective communication is essential for success in both academic and professional settings. Work on improving your verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Practice articulating your ideas clearly and concisely, actively listen to others and seek feedback to refine your communication style. Developing strong communication skills will enhance your academic performance, facilitate collaboration and boost your confidence in various contexts.
4. Cultivate Resilience and Adaptability
Challenges and setbacks are inevitable on the path to self-upgrade. Cultivate resilience by adopting a growth mindset and viewing obstacles as opportunities for growth and learning. Develop adaptive coping strategies to navigate stress, setbacks and failures effectively.
5. Prioritise self-care
Self-care is a crucial aspect of self-upgrade that is often overlooked. Prioritise your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing by establishing healthy habits and routines. Make time for regular exercise, adequate sleep, nutritious meals and relaxation activities. Practice mindfulness, meditation or journaling to manage stress and cultivate inner peace. Remember that taking care of yourself is not selfish but necessary for sustained success and fulfilment.
6. Seek Mentorship and Guidance
Mentors, role models and supportive peers provide guidance, encouragement and constructive feedback on your self–upgrade journey. Valuable insights, advice and mentorship may be tailored to your goals and aspirations. Be proactive in building meaningful relationships and leveraging the wisdom and experiences of others.
7. Reflect and Iterate
Regularly reflect on your progress, achievements and areas for improvement. Continuously reiterate and refine your approach to self-upgrade based on your evolving goals and experiences. By embracing these strategies and cultivating a proactive mindset, you can unlock your full potential, achieve your goals and thrive in an ever-changing world. Remember that the most meaningful transformation often occurs not just in what you know but in who you become along the way. “Listen to counsel and receive instructions that you may be wise in your latter days - There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel–that will stand” – Prov. 19: 20 & 21.

Further advice,

“Cease listening to instructions, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge” – Prov. 19: 27 . We must never stop learning. Not only do we need reminders of the principles we’ve already embraced but new lessons always lie ahead of us to continue our transformation into the image and character of our Creator. To God Be The Glory!
My Dear Students and Colleagues,

I want you to take time to read my message to you, as you walk on the Highway to Greatness.

Greatness in life is not achieved by pursuing that which is pleasurable, but that which is good and that which is right.

While the world is supposedly pursuing greatness, we are witnessing a swift and steady degradation of the quality of life and character in the human race. It is primarily because the basic foundations and formulas for greatness are wrong.

If education is taken for granted by right or by privilege and not as a blessing and responsibility, it ends up too casual and careless. If we are grateful, we will live life more responsibly and honour our blessings with caution, which sets a precedent for greatness.

The supreme end of education is expert discernment in all things – the power to tell the good from the bad, the genuine from the counterfeit and to prefer the good and the genuine, the bad and the counterfeit.

If you are arming yourself for greatness, the ability to discern between good and evil is paramount. This ability will help you to choose what is good over what looks or feels good. This is important because there is so much evil going on around and most of it is clad in shining armour.

Stanes School aims to help its students to grow into fine human beings who are capable to face the challenges of the present world. Those who have passed out from our School have all been men and women who have been ever ready to live and serve others.

So, my dear students, be cautions from being carried away by outward appearances that momentarily divert our attention from the most important things.

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the famed Scientist, and the former President of India, while addressing a gathering of students and professionals in Chennai, said that three things are important for a child’s growth:

How true! This is what we too at STANES believe and want each of our students to experience to its fullest, in order that we are laying a good foundation for the time to come!

In conclusion, I want to give all Glory to God, for another milestone – THE POST CENTENNIAL DIAMOND JUBILEE YEAR – in the history of this great institution.

This year’s magazine is a forum to exhibit the potential of the Management, Staff and Students as it unfolds each one’s imagination and gives life to our thoughts and aspirations while we celebrate the JUBILEE YEAR.

May Stanes School continue to touch the lives of our students year after year.

‘EXCELSA SEQUAR – AIM FOR THE HIGHEST’.
